COOLEST PLACES TO GET MARRIED IN MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE

COOLEST PLACES TO GET MARRIED IN MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE.

#Part 1

Where minimal meets maximum impact and heritage meets contemporary culture, here are my top recommendations for the coolest wedding venues in Manchester. #part 1.

Manchester Art Gallery

“A superb and memorable venue for weddings and civil ceremonies.”

The galleries and artworks provide a romantic backdrop for wedding pictures which are second to none.

Wedding ceremonies take place amongst the Lowry and Valette artworks in the beautiful Gallery 16. This creates a truly unique setting for you and your loved ones. A drink’s reception in the stunning Pre-Raphaelite Galleries and early evening dinner will take place in either Galleries 9&10 (dependant on numbers) or the more modern setting of the glass Atrium.

There is just something classic and romantic about this venue with a truly contemporary feel. In my experience the staff are welcoming and extremely accommodating and although this is an art gallery in a grand building it still feels cosy and intimate.

The Principal Hotel

“A refuge in the capital of cool”

With its clock tower and striking Victorian architecture, Principal Manchester is an unmistakable landmark in the city’s skyline. A magnificent, terracotta Grade II listed building, the hotel has a history dating back to 1890, when it first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters.

If you’re looking for somewhere a little out of the ordinary, Principal Manchester combines Victorian grandeur with quirky detail and modern swagger.

Having gone to The Refuge at The Principal for my second date with my partner, I think it’s safe to say that this venue holds a special place in my heart. Not only does it exude sophisticated, city chic glamour but it is also a truly romantic environment.

Manchester Museum

“Where else can you get married under the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex!”

If you are looking for a unique venue then consider Manchester Museum: host your event amongst the animals in our atmospheric Victorian Living Worlds Gallery, or dine with the dinosaurs in our Fossils Gallery.

Our wedding service is the most unique and memorable in Manchester – where else can you get married under the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex!

The first time I realised that you could actually get married here it all made sense, of course it is the perfect place for those couples looking for somewhere timeless, quirky and full of nostalgia for any Manchester born having had many a school trip here- I know I did!

Whether an intimate wedding for 20 guests, a big old knees up for 200 or anything in between, our spacious basement is the perfect setting. It is a unique space, beautiful yet informal.

A previous Wilderness Bride and industry friend married here it was chosen as a reception venue for their fun, laid back, close family and friend’s wedding. I walk past every now and then and it is a truly amazing space with multiple uses. Get creative and bring your DIY wedding goals to fruition here.

Having worked on a bridal styled shoot here (see above images) I have first-hand experience of the exquisite boutique hotel and the professionalism of the entire staff on hand to help. Nothing was too much and everything was so efficient and made our collaborative experience a joyous one. Take in the views from the rooftop terrace and enjoy the gorgeous interiors of this boutique hotel.

Conclusion. There are a great many cool and quirky venues in Manchester but the recommendations have been tried and tested by previous Wilderness Brides and so come with ‘real bride’ experience! We have been fortunate enough to hold collaborative bridal shoots in some of our favourite venues so wherever you choose I hope this recommendation has been useful. Keep your eyes peeled for #part 2
