‘A wilderness bride wears twigs and flowers in her hair…and much prefers the moonlight’

Founded in 2012 by Stephanie Mitchell, Wilderness Bride is based in the Cheshire countryside, just outside of Manchester. The product range currently comprises of bridalwear collections, available from carefully selected stockists nationwide, online or directly from our Cheshire studio. The Wilderness Bride label is proud to be handmade in England.

Wilderness Bride is passionate about handcrafted bridalwear. Our designs are influenced by all things natural, vintage and heritage. We take inspiration from classical literature, folklore and the four elements of earth, air, fire and water.

We work with vintage-inspired fabrics to create simple shapes and flattering silhouettes. We focus on intricate and enchanting details, with hidden heritage in every choice of cut, lace, bead and button.

Forever influenced by nature, heritage and folklore, Wilderness Bride represents a unique vision for handcrafted bridalwear. We’re different in a subtle, quiet way for individuals who don’t like to follow the crowd.

A Wilderness Bride is free-spirited, sentimental and creative. A Wilderness Bride is informal, whimsical and chic. Natural and timeless.

Stephanie Mitchell studied Fashion Design and Garment Construction at Mid Cheshire college in association with Chester University. She then worked in the bridal industry for many years, gaining a wealth of experience from listening to and styling brides. Friends asked her to design their wedding dresses and in 2014, Stephanie launched a small but successful collection of bridal separates under her own label, Wilderness Bride. Today she continues to run Wilderness Bride from her flagship studio in Knutsford, Cheshire.

“I’m definitely a no-fuss kind of person. My parents were free-spirited and interested in folklore and the natural world. All these influences can be seen in Wilderness Bride. If I’m not designing or dressmaking, I’m researching the 1800s, 1930s or 1950s through literature, art, fashion and photos. I feel very lucky and I love what I do.” Stephanie

“About five years ago, I was walking through the grounds of a beautiful stately home with a friend.” explains Stephanie. “We were discussing the name for my new label. At exactly the same time as deciding ‘Wilderness Bride’ was perfect, I tripped over a set of antlers! I took it as ‘a sign’, and they became my company emblem.”
